Via Elke verschooten ontdekte ik de Less is More challenge blog. Omdat ik graag frutseltjes op m'n kaarten heb, is dit een echte uitdaging en heb ik nog niet eerder deelgenomen. Deze week moest het 'iets met pootjes/benen' zijn en ik dacht direct aan een 'spinnenkop'. Diegenen die mij kennen, weten dat ik gek ben op Halloween en alles wat daarbij hoort (dus ook stempels), hihi. Ik kreeg het 'lumineuze' idee om mijn Halloweenstempels eens anders te gebruiken. Vandaar dit kaartje. Leuk om te sturen naar iemand die je al even niet hebt gezien/gesproken. Toch?

This card is for the Less is More challenge. I haven't participated before because I like flowers and/or embellishments on my card. But this week I immediately got an idea when I saw that they wanted to see 'Something with legs'. Those who know me, know I'm fond of Halloween and everything related to it (including stamps). So I got this 'luminous' idea to use my Halloween stamps in a different way. I think it's a fun card for someone you haven't seen or talked to in a while.

Mijn vader wordt 72 vandaag en is een fervent tuinier, hoewel hij het rustig aan moet doen na zijn zware rugoperatie. Beige en grijze cardstock, DP BasicGrey 'Cappella - puccini/cap-247'. Magnolia ingekleurd met Distress inkt Tattered Rose, Victorian Velvet, Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint & Scattered Straw. Tekststempel van bij Elke verschooten.

It's my Dad's 72th birthda. He loves gardening but had to slow down after a severe spinal operation, hence the text 'push the pause button today and enjoy'. Mijn ouders 50 jaar getrouwd. My parents married for 50 years.

Mijn ouders zijn vandaag 50 jaar getrouwd en wonen al 51 jaar samen (héél vooruitstrevend in die tijd). Ik maakte hiervoor een bijna identieke kaart dan voor het huwelijk van Imke en Ronny, maar heb de kleuren net iets soberder gehouden, door slecht 1 kant van het DP te gebruiken. De tekstempel, van bij Elke verschooten, is echt wel toepasselijk vind ik.

My parents are married for 5 years and live together for 51 years (quite progressive at the time). I made an almost identical card as for the wedding of Imke and Ronny, but chose a subdued colour scheme. The text is quite appropriate: 'to fall in love is easy, but to stay in love is art'.

Huwelijk - Wedding

Deze kaart was voor het huwelijk van Imke en Ronny op zaterdag 21 mei 2011. Imke is de zus van Elke verschooten. De lievelingskleuren van Imke zijn oranje en paars, vandaar dat ik ze in deze kaart probeer te verwerken. Ik heb ervoor gekozen om de afbeelding op de binnenkant van de kaart te zetten. Stempel: 'Warm & Fuzzy' van Penny Black. Cardstock Bazzill 'Boysenberry Delight ' en 'Gecko'. DP BasicGrey 'Kioshi - lily child'. De kleine hartjes, de bloemetjes en het lint werden gekleurd met Copics zodat ze bij het papier passen. De kaart sluit met een magneetje.
De bruid zag er schitterend uit en was alvast heel blij met haar kaart. Het koppel geniet nu van de huwelijksreis en elkaar!

This card is for the wedding of Imke and Ronny last saturday. Her favourite colours are orange and purple, so I tried to use them in this card. I chose to put the image on the inside of the card. Stempel: 'Warm & Fuzzy' van Penny Black. Cardstock Bazzill 'Boysenberry Delight ' and 'Gecko'. DP BasicGrey 'Kioshi - lily child'. The small hearts, the flowers and the ribbon are coloured with Copics to match the paper. I used a magnet to close the card.
The bride looked gorgeous and was very pleased with her card. The couple is now enjoying their honeymoon and each others company.

Deze kaart is voor Ward, die op 15 mei 78 geworden is. Hij is een begaafd schilder en ik hoop dat hij mijn 'aquarelkunsten' weet te appreciëren. :-)
De bloemen - en tekststempels komen van Elke Verschooten. De bloem werd ingekleurd met distress refill 'weathered wood', 'crushed olive' en 'dusty concord'. Het model van de kaart is een idee van Elke Verschooten. De onderste foto is van de kaart die we tijdens haar workshop maakten.

This card is for the 78th birthday of a dear friend and talented painter. I hope he likes my 'artistic touch'. :-)

Dit kaartje is voor moederdag. Er hoort een bijpassend label bij om aan de hortensia te hangen. Afbeelding 'Sprout by Mo Manning' van Stampingbella, ingekleurd met Copics. DP 'Jack n' Jill collection' van Prima Marketing. De tekst komt van bij Elke Verschooten. Op het hartvormig kadertje van Artemio bloemetjes van Aladine gestempeld met ColorBox 'Frost White' en dan geëmbossed met wit embossingpoeder. Daarover geverfd met Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber 'Juniper' en lichtjes nagewreven met een velletje keukenrol. Mijn moeder was er alvast heel blij mee.

A card for Mother's Day with a matching label for the Hydrangea I gave her. Image 'Sprout by Mo Manning' by Stampingbella, coloured with Copics. DP 'Jack n' Jill collection' from Prima Marketing. The text stamp was bought at the store from Elke Verschooten. On the wooden heart frame by Artemio I stamped flowers (stamp from Aladine) with Colorbox 'Frost White' and embossed with white embossing powder. Then I applied a thin layer of Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber 'Juniper'. I slightly wiped the paint off again with kitchen tissue. My mother loved it!

Zohra

Today our beloved Zohra passed away. She was only about 11 years old and although I've known her since she was about a year old, she only lived with us since may 2003.
We took her to the vet on friday because she wasn't eating anymore, drank a lot and lost weight real fast. They put her on a fluid treatment because her kidneys weren't working properly. Saturday morning the vet was rather optimistic but around 5 pm we got a phone call that Zohra died of a cardiac arrest in her sleep.
It is said: You can't own a cat. The best you can do is be partners. Nothing as hard as to lose a partner!
Another quote says "a meow massages the heart", well hers truly did. We miss her terribly!
Thank you for the wonderful years and love you gave us! We will never forget you!

Bij Crafty Creations challenge #9 is het thema 'stof'. Ik heb dit mooie Irisstempeltje eerst op een voile cadeauzakje gestempeld. Daarna heb ik nogmaals op glitterfolie 'hologram framboos' gestempeld, het hartje uitgeknipt en op de stof gestreken.

At Crafty Creations challenge #9 the theme is 'fabric'. I first stamped the image on a 'gauze' giftbag. Then I stamped it again on glitter iron-on foil 'hologram raspberry', then cut out the heart shape and ironed it on the original image.

Eén kaart voor 3 challenges! Bij Crafty Creations Challenge #8 is het thema 'konijntjes'. Ik dacht dadelijk aan deze leuke Penny Black stempel en het mooie DP uit de 'Sultry' reeks van Basic Grey. Deze week bij Stamp Something een geweldige sketch die perfect van pas kwam. Bij Penny Black Saturday challenge #42 is het thema lente, dus komt m'n konijntje en fleurig papier goed van pas!.

One card for 3 challenges! At Crafty Creations Challenge #8 the theme is 'bunny'. I immediately thought of this cute PB stamp in combination with the gorgeous DP from the 'Sultry' collection by Basic Grey. At Stamp Something a great sketch this week that came in very handy! And at Penny Black Saturday challenge #42 the theme is 'think spring', so my bunny and spring floral papers fit in nicely!

Shaped card

Bij HMM challenge #30 is het de bedoeling een kaart te maken die niet vierkant of rechthoekig is. Ik heb er dan maar de vorm van een pootje voor genomen. Pas nadat m'n tekening 'Are we there yet' ingekleurd en uitgeknipt was, kwam ik tot de ontdekking dat de kaart aan de verkeerde kant openging!
At HMM challenge #30 our cards had to be anything but square or rectangle shaped. I decided to use a paw form instead. It was only after colouring and cutting my image 'Are we there yet' that I discovered the card opened the wrong way!

Daarom besloot ik beide zijden aan elkaar te lijmen en de tekst van Inkadinkado dan maar op een tag te stempelen in plaats van binnenin de kaart. Een lintje een een beentje van 'Dress it up!' eraan en het probleem was opgelost!
At that point I decided to glue both sides of the card together and stamp the sentiment by Inkadinkado on a tag instead of using it on the inside of the card. A small ribbon with a bone from 'Dress it up' attached to it and my problem was solved!

House Mouse for men

Bij HMM challenge #28 is de uitdaging een mannenkaart te maken met een House Mouse erop. Ik dacht automatisch aan dit lieve vissertje. Ik weet niet waarom ik vissen altijd een mannensport vind; ik ken namenlijk enkele fervente vrouwelijke vissers. Enfin. Dit kaartje lijkt me leuk om te geven voor een verjaardag, pensioen, ... Stempel is 'Gone Fishin'', papier uit Sultry collectie van Basis Grey, tekst Stamps Antwerpen.
The challenge at HMMC #28 is to make a masculin card with a HM on it. I automatically thought of this sweet fishing mouse. I don't know why I always consider fishing as a masculin sport, especially because I've known some fanatic 'fisherwomen'. Anyway, this card seems fit for a man's retirement, birthday,... Stamp is 'Gone fishin'', DP from Basis Grey Sultry collection, sentiment from Stamps Antwerp. It says to make time for what is truly important.

Ik heb een tijdje niet meer geblogd om allerlei redenen, dus heb ik een en ander in te halen! Ik wil alvast iedereen bedanken die hier steeds een kijkje kwam nemen en/of berichtjes stuurde!
Eerst en vooral een update van m'n laatste bericht! Is het te danken aan de zwarte katten die bij ons rondlopen, aan mijn beschermengel, aan geluk? Ik weet het niet, maar een ding is zeker! Ik kreeg vorige week een mail van de prof, dat ik toch geslaagd ben voor politicologie! Joepie!!!

First of all I put an update of my last post! Should I thank our black cats, my guardian angel or is it just sheer luck? I'm not sure, but one thing is certain! Last week I received a message from the professor that I did pass my exam of politicology after all! Yeehah!!!

Examens - Exams

Omdat ik een beetje teleurgesteld ben in m'n uitslag, hab ik dit nog niet eerder gepost. Ik ben net niet geslaagd op polticologie (1 punt te kort!), de andere 2 examens (sociaal-wetenschappelijk denken en social research methods) waren wel OK. Dat wordt dus blokken in augustus, pfffft.

As I'm a bit dissapointed about my exam results, I haven't posted this any sooner. I didn't pass for politicology (1 point short!), my other 2 exams (social-scientific thinking and social methods) were OK. Guess this means I'll have to study again in August, pfffft.

De stempel van Creative Images werd gestempeld met Versafine en geëmbossed met clear; dan ingekleurd met Derwent potloden & Sansodor, bedekt met VersaMarker en terug geëmbossed met clear. De achtergrond werd gesponged met Adirondack inkten.

No sketch or challenge for this birthday card for a friend who turns 28 tomorrow (within moments). The stamp by Creative Images is stamped with Versafine and embossed with clear powder. Then I coloured the image with Derwent pencils & Sansodor, covered everything with VersaMarker and embossed again. The background is sponged with several Adirondack inks.

Bij HMM challenge #23 is het thema 'Valentijn'. Ik heb een hartvormige kaart gemaakt. Het DP is van Best Creations inc. HM stempel 'Be mine heart & sole' werd uitgeknipt en met 3D-blokjes bevestigd. De bijpassende enveloppe werd uit een bestaande enveloppe geknipt, zodat het kaartje er net inpast. Dit kleine kaartje is perfect in combinatie met een geschenkje.

At HMM challenge #23 the theme is 'Valentines'. I made a heart shaped card. DP is Best Creations inc. The HM 'Be mine heart & sole' was cut out and fixed with 3D foam. The matching envelope is cut out of a regular to match the shape of the card. This small card is perfect to give together with a small present.

In december maakte ik ook al deze Valentijnskaart.
In december I already made this Valentine's card.

Murphy's Law or Mission impossible?

Gisterenmiddag viel plots onze telefoon- en internetverbinding uit! Blijkbaar was onze 'black box' defect. 't Was wel even zwaar afkicken zo zonder internet. Ik heb dan maar verder gewerkt aan een kleine attentie voor een vriendin, tegelijkertijd mijn deelname voor de Crafty Creations challenge #1, die gisteren van start ging met als thema 'Harten in overvloed'. Op het stukje zeep (zonder merk) heb ik een hart van Hero Arts 'gestempeld'. Leg hiervoor bakpapier op de zeep en strijk over de zeep om ze zacht en indrukbaar te maken. Neem de met Versamark beïnkte stempel, druk hem in de zeep en laat even staan.
Het bijpassend doosje werd gemaakt met Core'dinations cardstock 'aged wine' en DP 'Bittersweet mousse' van Basicgrey. Het hartje werd gestempeld met VersaMark en geëmbossed met clear poeder, het randje is 'Burgundy van Core'dinations. Het doosje sluit met een klein magneetje van Basicgrey.

Yesterday afternoon our phone and internet connection fell out due to a technical problem. I got one hell of a 'Cold Turkey' without my internet, lol. I decided to work on a small present for a friend, which is also my entry for the new Crafty Creations challenge #1 'Hearts Galore', that started yesterday. On the piece of soap I stamped a Hero Arts heart. Put baking paper on the soap and iron it so it becomes soft. Then press your stamp that is inked with versamark into the soap and leave it for a while.
The matching box was made with Core'dinations cardstock 'aged wine' and 'Bittersweet mousse' DP by Basicgrey. The heart was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with clear powder; the border is 'Burgundy' by Core'dinations. Ribbon from stash. The box closes with a magnet snap by Basicgrey.

My Time to Craft challenge #46 heeft als thema 'A little bit of sunshine'. Bij Stamp Something is het thema 'Summer in Winter Somethings'. De stempel van Inkadinkado is gestempeld met Versamark zwart en geëmbossed met clear poeder. De kindjes werden ingekleurd met Derwent potloden. Hierover ging ik met de Versamark pen, dan terug geëmbossed met clear poeder. De achtergrond werd gesponged met Adirondack. Cardstock 'Buff', DP van K&Company.

My Time to Craft challenge #46 is called 'A little bit of sunshine'. At Stamp Something the challenge is 'Summer in Winter Somethings'. The image from Inkadinkado is stamped with Versamark black and embossed with clear powder. The children were coloured with Derwent pencils. On top I put Versamark and embossed with clear powder again. Background is sponged with Adirondack. Cardstock 'Buff', DP by K&Company.

Lichtmis - Candlemas

Op 2 februari wordt Lichtmis gevierd. Omdat onze vrienden hun dochtertje Catharina christelijk opvoeden leek het mij toepasselijk om een kaars te geven als kleine attentie. Het is immers traditie om kaarsen te branden omdat de dagen langer worden én om pannenkoeken te eten! Ik heb op de kaars en het label een irisstempeltje gebruikt. Dit stempeltje had ik al gebruikt voor de T-shirts die ik als kerstcadeautje gegeven had aan Catharina en haar zusje Lieselotte.
On february 2nd it's Candlemas. Because our friends raise their daughter Catharina in christian tradition, I thought it would be appropriate to give a candle as a little present. It is tradition to burn candles because days are getting longer, and to eat pancakes. I used an Irisstamp on the candle and the gift tag. It's the same stamp I used for the t-shirts I gave as Christmas present to Catharina and her sister Lieselotte.

Bij HMM challenge #22 is de uitdaging paper piercing, veel of weinig, gewoon naar wens. Ik heb enkel de boogjes van de blauwe rechthoek gepierced. Stempel is 'Baby Blocks', papier van Frances Meyer, bloem en knoopje van Daisy D's. De letters uit zwart cardstock werden beïnkt met Color Box 'Frost White' and blue chalk. Lint uit m'n voorraad. Ik heb voor deze kaart de leuke sketch van Ismaki challenge #09/004 gebruikt.

At HMM challenge# 22 it's about paper piercing. A lot or a little, as you wish. I only pierced the scallops of the blue rectangle. Image is 'Baby Blocks', DP by Frances Meyer, flower and button by Daisy D's. The (originally black cardstock) letters were inked with Clor Box 'Frost White' and blue chalk. Ribbon from stash. I used the great sketch from Ismaki challenge #09/004.

More time?!

Gisteren ben ik toch maar langs de dokter geweest en wat bleek...griep! Enfin, ik heb toch maar doorgebeten en heel koortserig examen gaan afleggen. Duimen maar dat ik erdoor ben, maar ik vrees er voor. Om me wat op te lappen, ben ik langs m'n favoriete hobbywinkel Crafts & Things geweest, waar ze net dit lieve Irisstempeltje uitgebracht hebben! Nu de examens voorbij zijn, hoop ik terug wat meer tijd te hebben om te knutselen.
Because I didn't feel any better, I went to the doctor yesterday to hear I have... the flu! Anyhow, I did go to my exam - all feverish. Keep your fingers crossed that I passed, although I doubt it. To cure myself a bit, I passed at my favourite craft store, where they just released this cute Irisstamp. Now the exams are behind me, I hope to find more time to craft.

These past days I've been feeling real sick (sore throat, fever, strange cough - it sounds a bit like a bad mannered dog, lol) and the worst part: I have to go to work and I have to study for my exam of Social Research on thursday. Can you imagine I have to study 12 chapters in a book in English (I wouldn't even understand everything, even if it had been written in Dutch!) by Oxford Press (why do we have such scientific people around, I wonder). My head is bursting (from the cold or the book?). Luckily my dear blogging friends know how to cheer me up and gave me some precious awards!

Ik voel me de laatste dagen niet al te best: zere keel, koorts, een lelijke hoest (ik klink als een slecht opgevoede hond). En het ergste van al: bovenop gaan werken, moet ik ook nog studeren voor m'n examen Social Research op donderdag. Ik moet 12 hoofdstukken kennen uit een Engelstalig boek (materie waarvan ik in het Nederlands nog niet de helft begrijp. Ik vraag me af waarom er zulk een wetenschappelijke schrijvers bestaan). Mijn hoofd staat op springen en ik weet niet meer of het van de verkoudheid of het studeren is. Gelukkig heb ik superlieve blogvrienden die me opbeuren en me enkele prachtige awards gegeven hebben!

I got this lovely lotus flower from Mary. I adore this flower and it's delicate colours. I once bought lotus seeds on the internet, but can you imagine where I have to grow them, living in the city, without a garden? Bij Stamp Something is het thema 'iets met een recept'. Je vult het begrip 'recept' zelf in. Ik dacht onmiddellijk aan deze leuke HM stempel 'Yummy recipe'. Ik moet er steeds om lachen, zodat deze kaart ook perfect is voor de My Time to Craft challenge, waar het thema 'You're Having A Laugh' is.
At Stamp Something this week is about Recipe Somethings: whatever the word 'recipe' brings to mind. I immediately thought about this funny HM stamp 'Yummy recipe'. It always makes me laugh, so I think this card is also perfect for the My Time to Craft challenge, where the theme is 'You're Having A Laugh'.

Deze week draait de House Mouse Monday challenge rond het gebruik van bepaalde kleuren: Cameo Coral (perzikachtig roze), Old Olive en Night of Navy. Cardstock Core Colour 'Ming' en 'Satin Rose', DP van K&Company. Stempel 'Spa time': ik denk dat ik deze stempel zo geschikt vond, omdat ik met m'n zere keel beter een warme thee kan drinken, hoewel het'spa' idee van een lekker warm bad ook aantrekkelijk is. De kaart is nog niet helemaal af, maar ik weet zo dadelijk niet wat er aan ontbreekt en zal ze later nog verder afwerken.

This week at HMM challenge a color challenge: Cameo Coral, Old Olive, Night of Navy. I used Core Colour Cardstock 'Ming' and 'Satin Rose', DP by K&Company. Stamp is 'Spa time': I think I used this image because I'd better get some warm tea for my sore throat, although the 'spa'feeling from a warm bath sounds real attempting too. The card isn't really finished, but I can't think of what's missing at the moment, so I'll try to finish it later.

Dit kaartje is voor Lieselotte die vandaag 7 wordt! Het Magnolia figuurtje werd ingekleurd met Copics. Het hart ging door de Cuttlebug. Op de 7 (een metalen letter van een nummerplaat) stempelde ik eerst bloempjes van Aladine met Colorbox 'Frost White', nadien werd alles met Silver Pearl geëmbossed en wordt een licht laagje 'Blue pearl' metaalglansverf van FolkArt aangebracht. Een pareltje in elk afgerond hoekje et voilà... Ik hoop dat m'n jonge vriendinnetje er blij mee is.
This card is for Lieselotte who turns 7 today! The Magnolia image is coloured with Copics. The heart was put through the Cuttlebug. I stamped little flowers from Aladine on the 7 (a metal number from a car plate) with Color Box 'Frost White' and embossed it with Silver Pearl powder before adding a bit of 'Blue Pearl' metallic paint by FolkArt. A little pearl in each rounded corner and that's it. I hope my little friend will like her card.

Emurphine, onze mooie Mudi, is vandaag 4 jaar geworden! We hebben haar geadopteerd toen ze iets ouder was dan een jaar.
Emurphine, our beautiful Mudi, got 4 years old today! We adopted her when she was a little older than one year.

Gelukkig maakten we vorig jaar kennis met de kennel 'De La Croix Bernifa' waar ze geboren werd. Van deze ongelooflijk lieve mensen kregen we een heel hoop foto's van haar als pup. Zij is de enige beige in het nestje! Er is zelfs een foto bij met haar moeder (zwart) en grootmoeder (ook beige)!
Last year we met the breeders 'De La Croix Bernifa' where she was born. These marvellous people send us a lot of pictures from her as a puppy. Emurphine is the only beige puppy in the brood! We even have a picture with her mother (black) and grandmother (also beige)!

Ik kreeg deze geweldig lieve award van de supergetalenteerde Heather aka Rica van 'Rica's Haven'. Hij maakte m'n dag dadelijk weer goed. Ik had vandaag examen 'Inleiding tot de Politicologie' en vrees dat het een tweede zit wordt. Ik had enkel het WE om de volledige cursus te lezen (ik had vroeger moeten beginnen studeren, ik weet het, maar ja), dus nu maar hopen op een goed afloop! Ik ben maar direct na het examen gaan werken om m'n gedachten te verzetten. :-)

I only had this WE to read the whole book (I know, I should have started earlier!), so now I hope I just made it. I immediately went to work afterwards, to clear my thoughts. :-)

Terug naar deze 'Spread the love' award dus. Bedoeling is om hem door te geven aan 7 anderen (het kan ook 5 of 6 geweest zijn hoor, maar het is mijn award dus ik kies zelf hé: zo gaat dat met liefde, dat houd je niet voor jezelf, lol). ATC - Music

Mijn allereerste ATC! Het was niet eenvoudig om op zo'n kleine kaart(89 mm x64 mm) te werken maar het is me gelukt.De HM afbeelding is een fragment uit 'In the bog with a frog' en ik vond de 'music' embellishment er mooi bij passen. Deze ATC is voor de HMM challenge #20.
Ik kwam toevallig terecht op de My Time to Craft challenge , waar het thema deze week 'Mice and easy' is. Makkelijk omdat het al af was en er ook muizen op staan! Dus... een klein kaartje voor 2 challenges!

My very first ATC! It was not very easy to work on such a small card, but I did it. Image is part from the HM stamp 'In the bog with a frog'. I thought the 'music' embellishment fitted nice with this image. This ATC is for the HMM challenge #20.
I happened to stumble into the My Time to Craft challenge, where the theme happens to be 'Mice and easy'. Easy because I had finished the card and it has mice on it! So... a small card for 2 challenges!

Ik kreeg deze prachtige award van m'n heel getalenteerde blogvriendin Vanja! De award gaat rond onder de naam 'Marie Antoinette' maar eigenlijk gaat het hier om Jeanne-Antoinne Poisson, beter bekend als Madame De Pompadour, geschilderd door François Boucher in 1756. Zij had een grote passie voor literatuur en o.a. behangpapier van Jean-Baptiste Réveillon. Had ze nu geleefd zou ze zeker al het mooie scrappapier bewonderd hebben!

De laatste tijd blog ik heel weinig omdat ik volop in een drukke periode zit: examens, FT werken en uiteraard geweldige soldenkoopjes najagen. ;-)
Mijn counter bleek opeens niet meer te werken; een probleem dat andere bloggers blijkbaar ook ervaren. Ik denk dat ik dicht tegen de 8.000 hits zat, maar laat de nieuwe counter op 7.500 beginnen, dan zit ik zeker goed.
Bedankt voor jullie regelmatige bezoekjes en tot vlug!

I haven't been blogging a lot lately, because I'm very busy at the moment: exams, FT work and looking for great bargains in the sales of course. ;-)
My counter stopped working, a problem other bloggers experienced too as I noticed. I think I had close to 8000 hits, but can't really remember exactly. I've installed a new one, that starts at 7500, so it should be nearly correct.

Ik hoop dat jullie net zo'n fijne oudejaarsavond als wij hadden. Wij hebben genoten van een heel fijne avond bij onze beste vrienden, Marc en Monique! Emurphine, onze Mudi, heeft het jaar alvast goed ingezet! Biebel, de stoere Beagle van onze vrienden, was zwaar onder de indruk van haar schoonheid! Hij was niet van haar weg te slaan!

I hope you all had a terrific New year's eve, just as we did! We had a lovely evening at our best friends place. Emurphine, our Mudi, took a wonderful start! Biebel, the well build Beagle of our friends, was very impressed by her beauty! He couldn't take his eyes off her!

Enkele kaarten die we deze kerstperiode verstuurd hebben. Here are some of the cards I made for this Christmas season.
Stempel met kerstballen van Aladine werd gestempeld met Adirondack Pigment Ink 'Cranberry'. Het onderste kerstballetje kreeg een beetje rode glitter. Papier 'Bazrah' van 7gypsies.
Stamp with Christmas ornaments from Aladine was stamped with Adirondack Pigment Ink 'Cranberry'. I added some red glitter on the lower ornament. DP 'Bazrah' from 7gypsies.

Stempel 'Happy holidays!' van Stamps Happen werd ingekleurd met m'n nieuwe Copics (het blijft nog even wennen), uitgeknipt en op groen cardstock gemat. Een rode kaart met Schots lint afwerken et voilà!
Stamp 'Happy holidays!' by Stamps Happen was coloured with my new Copics (I still have to get used to them), cut out and matted on green cardstock. A red card was 'dressed' with 'Scottisch ribbon' and that's it!

Het idee voor deze schattige kaart haalde ik bij m'n favoriete hobbywinkel 'Crafts & Things' in Antwerpen. Stempeltje van Aladine.

Bij HMM challenge #18 deze week een sketch. Deze week wordt stilgestaan bij het plotse overlijden van een van de regelmatige deelnemers aan de challenge, Joanne. Bij House Mouse Monday challenge is het thema 'Let it snow'. Stempel is 'Along for the ride', papier 'Alpine Frost' van S.E.I. Veel sneeuwvlokjes op het papier, sneeuwvlokjes als embellishments en het plezantste van al: de sneeuw op de afbeelding, gemaakt met 'Puffy 3D textielverf' van Tulip.

At HMM challenge the theme is 'Let it snow'. Stamp is 'Along for the ride', DP 'Alpine Frost' by S.E.I. A lot of snowflakes on the paper, some snowflake embellishments and the most fun of all: the snow on the image made with 'Puffy Dimensional fabric paint' by Tulip.

Bij House Mouse Monday challenge #16 willen ze zo veel mogelijk glitter zien! Wel de glitter hangt overal: op m'n gezicht, op de kat en zelfs op de kaart! Stempel is 'Warm tree light', het lampje werd met glitter bestrooid, maar dat is niet echt duidelijk op de scan. Kerstpapier met glitters van K&Company, glitter brad uit de 'Falala' collectie van Making Memories.

At HMM challenge #16 they want to see glitter! Well the glitter is everywhere: on my face, on my cat and even on my card! I got this very cute (metal) birthday card from my dearest friends Marc and Monique; they even sang on my answering device! Although that did affect my hearing a little bit, lol!
Well it's official: I'm 44 as from today. I guess that means I still have 44 more years before having to behave a bit like a grown up? But I'll start worrying about that within 44 years. As for today: I'll put this little plate in front of me for the rest of the day and I'll enjoy myself. Tonight Eddy will make dinner and I'll just sit back and relax! Yeehah!

I decided to remove my playlist (for the moment). As Deena wisely mentioned, most people have their own music on. And I also noticed that it's rather chaotic to come on a blog with music, when I still hear the music on my own blog and my radio in the background, and ... So for the moment I removed the music on my blog, till I find a little device that looks like a radio or something and that visitors can easily switch on or off depending on their mood/taste. If you have any suggestions or tips, please let me know!

House Mouse Monday challenge #13 gaat over het gebruiken van junk! Enkele weken geleden wou ik deze shampoofles weggooien, maar bedacht me omdat ik ze heel handig vond en omdat het pompje zo goed werkte. Vanochtend dacht ik er opeens aan en besloot ze voor de challenge te gebruiken. Omdat ze haar tweede leven ook in de badkamer zal doorbrengen, gebruikte ik de stempel 'Relaxing bubbles'. De zeepbellen zijn met Diamond glaze bewerkt, maar dit is niet zichtbaar op de foto. De tekening werd beschermd met zelfklevende plastic folie alvorens op de fles te kleven. En nu nog iets met een lekker geurtje erin...

HMM challenge #13 is all about using junk. I wanted to throw away this bottle of shampoo some time ago, when I realised that it was a very handy one and the pumping system worked perfectly. It wasn't until this morning that I thought about it again and decided to use it for the challenge. As it will get a second life in our bathroom I decided to use the stamp 'Relaxing bubbles'. The bubbles are highlighted with Diamond glaze, but it's not really visible on the picture. The image was protected with adhesive plastic film before I glued it on the bottle. Now all it takes is something perfumed inside...

Joepie! Eindelijk terug centrale verwarming! Sedert vorige zaterdag zaten we in de kou. Vandaag is er eindelijk iemand langsgeweest. Voorlopig zitten we toch terug lekker warm!

Yeehaa! Finally it's getting warm again in our house! Our central heating broke down last saturday and today we finally saw a technician! For the moment the heat is back on!

House Mouse: een recept - a recipe

Bij House Mouse Monday Challenge #12 is het de bedoeling 'een recept' te volgen: lint, 2 knopen, vilt en een gekartelde rand. Dit verwerk je met een schattige House Mouse stempel, et voilà! Ik 'bereidde' hiermee deze verjaardagskaart. Stempel 'Donut birthday', papier Craft Provo, bloem en knopen Daisy D. Nog een vilten strikje en dat was het!

At HMM challenge # 12 we had to follow a recipe: you take some ribbon, 2 buttons, some felt, a scalloped edge and add it to a cute HM stamp! I 'prepared' this birthday card. Stamp 'Donut birthday', DP Craft Provo, flower and buttons Daisy D. A small felt bow and that's it!

Op Deena's mooie blog 'A Necessary Creativity' vond ik een verwijzing naar de Crafty Creations challenge, waar het nog rond 'Halloween' draait! Joepie, eentje om het af te leren dus! Heks is van 'Stamp of Excellence,Inc', achtergrond 'sponged' met Adirondack Butterscotch, Stonewashed & Eggplant. De scene van Peddler's Pack Stampworks werd met Versamagic op zwart papier gestempeld, net zoals de vleermuizen van Stamp Crafter (Ik hoop dat het zichtbaar is op de scan).

Bij House Mouse Monday challenge #11 is het thema 'Dat natuurlijk gevoel'. Hmmm, natuurlijk... natuur, moeder aarde, bron van leven - water - yep: regen! Wat is er natuurlijker dan regen, zeker in ons kleine landje! De keuze voor de stempel was vlug gemaakt: 'Sitting in the rain'. Papier 'bamboo' van Basicgrey. Tekststempel van Stamps, bloemetjes van Aladine met Versamark gestempeld op bruine cardstock.

At HMM challenge #11 the theme is 'That natural feeling'. Hmmm, natural... naure, mother earth, source of life - water - yes: rain! What could me more natural than rain, especially in this small country I live in! The choice for the stamp was easy:'Sitting in the rain'. DP 'bamboo' by Basicgrey. Sentiment says:'when the sun is shining, you don't think about rain anymore'. Flowers from Aladine are stamped on brown cardstock with Versamark.

Only 364 days till the next Halloween, lol.
Next year I'll definitely have a party. Last year I cancelled it because life was to hectic and I'll always regret it because one of my dearest friends ever, Edgard, who loved our Halloween nights, passed away last August 17th, only 61 years old. I miss him so much, although we have only known each other for 6,5 years, he was 'my buddy'.
Here he is 'fooling around' (eating a - fake- spider - Halloween 2005):

Now for this year: I invited our dearest friends and a couple of Portuguese friends we don't know that long, but who have become very dear to us real fast. Guess what happened; our oldest friends were invited only two weeks ago to the wedding of their niece, who's husband to be secretely planned the wedding on 31st of...October! OK, that was a pity, but the party could go one, couldn't it? But last tuesday, Paula stumbled into my office, with horrible news: Carlos got hit by a bus and was in hospital. Luckily he could go home soon, but the poor guy is all bruised and stiff and to be honest, looked more like Frankenstein than himself! I told him he didn't have to go through that much trouble for just a Halloween paty, lol. But without kidding, I'm so glad he's feeling better everyday!
So it was just me a my darling: we had a real nice evening with bread, cheese and wine and our pets (who always take care of the animation on Halloween, and every other day too, lol) and talked about the past parties. We shed a few tears in remembrance of Edgard, but had some good laughs too, talking about all those wonderful memories!
So I guess this weekend was really all about the death and the living, as those days are meant to be!

Ik gebruikte de sketch van Ismaki challenge #36 als basis voor deze huwelijkskaart. Hoewel de kaart uiteindelijk heel simpel geworden is, heb ik er uren over gedaan en nog ben ik absoluut niet tevreden! De jurk is een PSX-stempel, tekst van Stamps Antwerpen, parelmoerachtig papier 'Morning meadow' van S.E.I., tekstpapier Creamotion. Het lint had ik nog liggen.

I used the sketch from Ismaki challenge #36 as inspiration for this card. Although it's a quite simple card, it took me hours to make it and I'm not satisfied at all! The dress is a PSX stamp, text by Stamps Antwerpen. The pearlescent paper is 'Morning meadow' by S.E.I., text paper by Creamotion. Ribbon from stash.

Ik voelde me eindelijk een beetje beter en besloot zaterdagavond toch aan de 10de House Mouse Monday challenge begonnen! Een echte uitdaging, wat alles kon, behalve een kaart. Uiteindelijk heb ik gekozen voor een wijnkistje, een kalender en een theelichthouder om de kerststemming er in te brengen. Rechtstreeks op het hout van het kistje stempelde ik 'Helping hand'; de kolibri die nectar drinkt, leek me perfect om de inhoud weer te geven. Ik stempelde deze afbeelding opnieuw op krimpfolie - ditmaal ingekleurd - en bevestigde dit als label aan het schuifdeksel.
Voor de scheurkalender gebruikte ik een houten snijplankje dat mijn ventje liefdevol schilderde met 'jute wit'. De afbeelding is 'Candlelit dreams'. Hij schilderde ook de theelichthouder van Artemio, waarop ik 'Joy to the World' op rood cardstock bevestigde.

I finally felt a little better and decided to start working on the 10th HMM challenge saturday evening. A real challenge, because we could make anything but a card! I finally decided to make a wine box, a calender and a tea light holder to get into the christmas feeling. I stamped 'Helping hand' directly on the wooden wine box; the humming bird drinking nectar seemed perfect to reflect the content. I stamped the image again on shrinking plastic - coloured this time - and attached it to the sliding lid. For the calendar I used a wooden cutting board, painted lovingly by my honey with 'jute white'. The image is 'Candlelit dreams'. He also painted the tea light holder from Artemio, on which I put 'Joy to the World' matted on red cardstock.

Bij Just Christmas and Birthday Cards is het alweer de 3de challenge! Voor de verjaardagskaart gebruikte ik deze leuke Betty Boop stempel van Stampitcrazy. Papier 'Ally's wonderland' van S.E.I. Vellum en cardstock uit m'n voorraad.
Voor de kerstkaart gebruikte ik 'Santa Collage' van Rubber Stampede, papier 'Twinkling trees' van Karen Foster Design, op het vellum sterretjes van Stamps Antwerpen.
At Just Christmas and Birthday Cards it's already the 3rd challenge! For the birthday card I used this cute Betty Boop stamp from Stampitcrazy. DP 'Ally's wonderland' by S.E.I. Vellum and cardstock from my stash.
For the christmas card I used my 'Santa Collage' from Rubber Stampede. DP 'Twinkling trees' by Karen Foster Design. On the vellum I stamped stars from Stamps Antwerpen.

Ik loop een beetje achter op m'n commentaar op iedereens blogs en op challenges. Mijn excuses hiervoor maar de laatste dagen waren een beetje hectisch! Werk, studies, de begrafenis van de broer van m'n beste vriendin en m'n gezondheid die even wat te wensen overlaat! Naast een nierontsteking ook nog een ontsteking aan m'n heiligbeen (wist zelfs niet dat ik dit had, maar voelt dus allesbehalve heilig aan, auw!). Dat schijnt ervan te komen als je naar de 44 gaat. Pffft, ik vond dat ik nu pas m'n prille jeugd beleefd had en was van plan te volgende 44 jaar een beetje op te groeien om de daaropvolgende 44 jaar pas over kwaaltjes te gaan zagen! Enfin, ik probeer dus de komende dagen jullie berichtjes te beantwoorden en een en ander te posten. Bedankt voor je bezoek en tot binnenkort.

I'm a bit behind with leaving comments on blogs and participating in challenges. I apologize to everyone, but life got a bit hectic these past days. Work, studies, the funeral of my best friends brother, and my health that was not a hundred percent. Next to kidney problems, I also have an inflammation of the sacrum (never knew I possessed one, but ouch - it hurts). That's what happens when one gets close to 44! Pffft, I always thought I was still experiencing my childhood, and had planned to grow up for the next 44 years, and use the 44 years afterwards to complain about minor growing pains and diseases! Someone thought about me, and I got tagged! Thanks Deena, that's so kind!

As I've been tagged, I now have to share 7 facts (simple or weird) about myself.
So here I go:
1. I always write with black ink. When I have to sign something important I refuse to sign it with a blue pen. I don't know where this comes from, but for the last 20 years or so, I always carry some black pens with me!
2. I'm proud that my last name is only carried by 2 people in Belgium, my father and me! It's Hungarian, as my dad!
My mother and me always tease him with the fact that there could be more unofficially, if he has been fooling around a bit, lol.
3. I've been buying stamps for about 12 years now, but only started using them about a year and a half ago! I'm much better at collecting than at stamping I guess!
4. I'm terrified by spiders (especially the big, black, hairy ones, uhhh), although they do fascinate me (as long as they don't move).
5. I love to read; especially murder mysteries and detectives. I'm also fascinated by the 'other world': witches, ghosts, etc. I love to see movies and read books about magic. (I admit that I adore Harry Potter). I dream of going to New Orleans once, because they say it's the capital of voodoo. And because of the jazz and cajun food to of course! And I love Halloween, guess I was born in the wrong country!
6. I love to live (it starts to show a bit, lol) and hope I have some lives left: with all I'm still planning to do, I would have to be around for a couple of hundred years or more, lol.
I believe life is great and that the world could be an even much better place if everybody would enjoy life; if people got less egocentric and would be happy with what they have instead of complaining about what they haven't got, and if people would start 'sharing' more. I'm convinced that whenever you 'give', you'll get paid back twice one way or another(and I'm not talking about money now!)! Guess that's why I ended up in social work, lol!
7. I love internet and I love blogs! It's a great way to meet new fascinating people and to share all the beautiful things on this planet and to enjoy other people's creativity!
I always try to leave as many kind comments on other people's blogs as I can, although it takes a lot of time. I'm always a bit sad when I don't get as many visitors back, but... those who do visit my blog and leave all those kind comments make me real happy! Thanks for making my day!

Deze 23e sketch van Friday Sketchers inspireerde me om eindelijk m'n mooie tulp van Magenta te gebruiken. Ik was dadelijk verliefd op deze stempel, maar had hem nog nooit gebruikt! Papier van Frances Meyer Inc. Tekst van Stamps Antwerpen. De scan is niet geweldig: de bloem heeft in 't echt namenlijk identieke kleurschakeringen van het papier!
This 23th sketch from Friday Sketchers inspired me to finally use this beautiful tulip from Magenta. I immediately fell in love with this stamp some time ago, but had never used it before! DP from Frances Meyer Inc. Sentiment from Stamps Antwerpen. I'm not satisfied about the scan: the colourscheme on the tulip should look exactly the same as the one of the DP!

Thanks to cardmaking, blogs and internet, I met this wonderful friend, Diane! Although we haven't met in 'real' life, she has her place in my hearth! Today I could have kissed the postman (who didn't ring twice!) - lol - for delivering a package from her. What a wonderful surprise, all the images she send me (and papers!) and a wonderful handmade card (I won't throw it...ever, promised!). Thx Diane! I do appreciate it!xxx

Have a batty Halloween

Joepie weer een nieuwe House Mouse Monday challenge! Het thema deze week is Halloween (mijn favoriet!!!). Gelukkig had ik nog een leuke tag over van de challenge vorige week, die nu handig van pas komt. De tekst is een stukje van een stempel van Creative Images, waarvan ik vond dat hij perfect bij de leuke (vleer)muis paste. Deze kaart is heel simpel gehouden en dus vlug klaar; zo hoef ik m'n favoriete challenge toch niet te missen! Zo... dan nu te voet op weg naar college, want het land ligt 'plat' door de nationale staking. Gelukkig heb ik een dagje verlof genomen!

Woohoo, another new House Mouse Monday challenge. The theme this week is Halloween (my favourite!!!). I was lucky enough to have an unused tag from last week, which comes in very handy now. Text is part of a stamp by Creative Images and I taught it would be perfect with the 'batty' HM. This card is kept very simple and therefore finished real fast; so I don't have to miss my favourite challenge! And now off - walking - to college, because there's a national strike. Luckily I took a day off at work!

Geen kaarten vandaag, maar wel een nieuwe printer! Dus nu even alles installeren en volop aan m'n eerste paper werken! Tot later.

Ik volgde de sketch van Friday Sketchers #21 en de glitter en strass is perfect voor het thema bij Cute Card Thursday: 'Lots of Sparkle'. Irisstempeltje ingekleurd met stempelstiften; papier (met en zonder glitter) van S.E.I. Nog enkele strassvlindertjes en... opzetten die zonnebril!
I followed the sketch from Friday Sketchers #21 and the glitter is perfect for the theme at CCT: 'Lots of Sparkle'. Irisstamp coloured with markers; DP (with and without glitter) from S.E.I. I added a few strass butterflies... so put on those sunglasses!

Bij Ismaki #32 een heel aparte sketch! Ik heb eindelijk m'n 'Santa Collage' van Rubber Stampede bovengehaald; tekst, sterretjes en sneeuwvlokjes zijn van Stamps Antwerpen; papier 'Tuscany' van Provocraft en 'Holiday Traditions Embossed Paper' van K&Company.

Ik ben op zoek naar deze oude stempels van PSX, nummers K-1685 (Leuvense stoof) en F-897 (from the kitchen of). Ik heb ze onlangs op een veilingsite aan m'n neus voorbij laten gaan. Mocht je ze tegenkomen of bezitten - graag een seintje! Alvast bedankt!
